It’s official – Frozen Thunder is back!

As they have done for the past couple of years, the Canmore Nordic Centre leads the way when it comes to getting cross-country skiers enjoying their sport as early as possible! They’ve stored snow from last season over the summer and have laid it out in a nearly 2 kilometre long groomed and trackset trail! If I’m not mistaken, the Canmore Nordic Centre is the only facility in North America with available cross-country skiing at the moment.
In addition to being a boon for casual skiers, it’s also fantastic for our local Nordic athletes, who get to get an early jump on training on their home turf. Frozen Thunder is reserved for Provincial and National level athletes weekdays from 9am to noon but open to everyone all other times and all day weekends, with trail fees in effect. Grab your skis and head to the Nordic Centre to get in the mood for winter!
