Congratulations to Park Distillery in Banff on the release of Park Vodka, their first locally produced spirit!

I dropped by this week and Master Distiller Matt Hendriks gave me a great tour of the facility.  I had a chance to check out their fancy new custom still before going behind the scenes and learning about the grain fermentation process and everything else that goes into producing spirits.  It’s quite a complicated process that the team at Park Distillery has had to learn from the ground up but thanks to their dedication to the craft we have a new locally made vodka product!  I also took a look at the sampling table where they’re working on perfecting the flavour of a chili vodka, vanilla bean vodka, and espresso vodka.

After the tour I sat down with Stavros Karlos to learn more about Park Distillery, their first spirit, how they’re leading the way in producing craft spirits in Alberta, and their plans for the future.

Park Vodka is now available and keep an eye out for those additional vodka flavours I mentioned earlier in the not too distant future, as well as gin, whiskey, and more in the coming months and years.
