Some of the top biathletes from over two dozen countries, including our own hometown heroes, are in Canmore for the first Biathlon World Cup races to be held here in two decades!

It will be a great party atmosphere at the Nordic Centre Thursday through Sunday and Wendy Hendry and Vicki Perkins from the Canmore Nordic Ski Club hope people will come out to fill the free admission bleachers, make some noise, and maybe win some prizes!

Sara Renner stopped by for another World Cup Wednesday update where we discussed tonight’s opening ceremonies, 5:30 to 8 PM at the Canmore Pond, as well as some other Canmore Winter Carnival activities taking place this week.

Click here for a full race schedule.  A reminder that there will be no public parking at the Nordic Centre on race days but there will be a regular free shuttle from downtown, with pickup and drop-off at the ROAM bus stop behind the downtown Visitor Information Centre.

Also, if you haven’t seen the great Biathlon Skills in the Real World video series featuring some of our local athletes you can watch them here!
