Marking the shooting deaths of 14 women at l’Ecole Polytechnique in Montreal in 1989, December 6th is Canada’s National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women. The YWCA of Banff is hosting a Red Rose Evening that night at the Whyte Museum with keynote speaker Julie S. Lalonde.

Julie is an Ottawa-based social justice activist.  She speaks as both a passionate advocate of women’s rights and survivor of over a decade of aggressive stalking by an ex-boyfriend, detailed in this article.  I had a chance to chat with her about her presentation in Banff on Tuesday.

Tickets and details for the Red Rose Evening available here.
