Every time I see even the tiniest of water flows in Cougar Creek in the spring, or rising Bow River water levels, I get a momentary tinge of panic.  I think most of us who lived through the flood of 2013 experience some sort of similar reaction during the annual spring runoff with the knowledge we now have about the destructive potential of our typically tame creek beds and waterways.

Fortunately the Alberta Government has a great resource that gives real-time data on river and reservoir levels around the province as well as historical context of what is considered normal for this time of year.  Tanya and I spoke about the Alberta River Basins Portal this morning.
