Bike Canmore is a great initiative to help spread cycling awareness and promote Canmore as Alberta’s most bike friendly town!  Now into its fourth year, they’re looking to get more bike friendly businesses to join their ‘dream team’.

I spoke with Paula Remple from Bike Canmore this morning along with Paintbox Lodge owner Sara Renner who helped plant the seed to start this initiative.  Sara and husband Thomas Grandi walk (ride?) the talk – even in the winter towing their children to school on skis behind a bike is not an unusual thing in that household!  We talked about what the Paintbox Lodge does to incentivize both guests and employees to ride their bikes, why this would be a fantastic initiative for other hotels and local businesses to be a part of, and why promoting cycling culture will lead to a positive, less congested future for our community.  Also, with the Games underway in Pyeongchang, I couldn’t help but ask Sara if she watches from home and misses being on the starting line!
