Deer Street Site

Some big decisions were made at Banff Council on Monday regarding the scope of work for the new affordable rental housing project on Deer Lane.

Banff Mayor Karen Sorensen says they’re focusing on making units that are both affordable and built to last, and adding parking and extra storage space as optional paid amenities to keep rental costs down for those who don’t need them.

With the scope of work approved the next step is to issue the Request for Proposals, allowing builders to submit their plans.  They hope to bring this back to council to approve costs in June.

Find out more about this and other major projects in the Town of Banff at the Connect 2016 Open House!  The event is Wednesday from 3:30 to 7 PM at the Fenlands.  Mayor Sorensen will be giving a State of the Town address at 6 PM and attendees will have a chance to win a Greenlid compost bin.
