I love Canmore Uncorked for a lot of reasons. While the set price menus showcasing our outstanding local culinary talent are fantastic it’s the unique signature events you won’t find anywhere else that make our little food festival a cut above anything else out there. It was named Canada’s Event of the Year after all!

Where else can you eat, drink, and bike around town with an Olympic athlete or two leading the way? Or attend an event pairing music with food like Friday’s Mountain FM Culinary Symphony? Or have world-class musicians like Quartetto Gelato break out their instruments and perform between courses like they did for us lucky attendees on the Bistro Tour last night?

Four great courses at The Communitea Cafe, The Hive Gallery with food from Blake Canmore, Murrieta’s (their scallops and risotto dish was outstanding), and Where the Buffalo Roam were each accompanied by furious accordion playing, masterful oboe, violin, and cello work, and Peter de Sotto’s beautiful tenor voice.  It was a real treat for us as well as the public at the final two stops who ended up getting something a little bit more than their average meal or drink that night!

I spoke with Peter after the tour about Quartetto Gelato’s return to Canmore and what we can expect at Friday night’s big Culinary Symphony event.

The remaining dates of the Bistro Tour are sold out but as of this writing there are less than a dozen tickets left for Friday night’s Mountain FM Culinary Symphony.  It will be a night not to be missed and I’m predicting the highlight of an already outstanding week of food and drink.  Get your tickets here.
