On today’s Insider, Tanya and I spoke about the latest facts and figures to come from the 2026 Olympic Bid Committee and the implications for the Bow Valley.

With Lake Louise off the table as an alpine venue, Nakiska would see significant upgrades if we were awarded the Games.  We’d also see a major facelift to the Canmore Nordic Centre and an Athlete’s Village/future affordable housing in Palliser, along with the flood mitigation funding to make it happen.

Councilor Joanna McCallum thinks the citizens of Canmore should have a say at a public hearing.  Tanya and I also spoke about this as well as some of the commonly heard challenges and concerns an Olympics would present to our community.
