With 16 points (5G, 11A) in 12 games and two Stars of the Game honours, 19-year-old forward Connor Lyons has earned the Mountain FM Canmore Eagles Player of the Month title for January.

The peak of Connor’s stellar month came on January 12th when he scored a hat trick and added two assists in the Eagles 7-1 victory against Olds.  He’s been a solid playmaker and top-6 forward for the Eagles all season and has definitely proven that the team earned good value when he was acquired in a trade with Fort McMurray for former captain Coy Prevost last season.

Connor told me he loves playing here, credits offensive dynamo Alex Young with helping to bring up his game, talks about their important games this weekend, and is keeping his fingers crossed for a chance to play alongside his brother in his final AJHL season next year.

Congratulations Connor!  We’ll be cheering for you and the rest of the team in home games against the Calgary Mustangs tonight and Drumheller Dragons Sunday afternoon.
