I had the opportunity to check out some of the fantastic projects from local students at the Canadian Rockies Regional Science Fair at the Banff Elementary School this week.  A couple of the projects caught my eye so I went to find out more…

LGMS Grade 6 student Hannah’s project was a great examination of microplastics and got me thinking about how an every day activity like doing the laundry can have a cumulative negative effect on the environment.

BES Grade 7 student Ignacio’s project was a detailed examination of using bleach to enhance light on a solar bulb, a method used in parts of the world where access to electricity is a challenge.

Big kudos to all participating students for their hard work, and congratulations to Scarlet Hughes and Olive Shmaltz for winning the event with their project “The Daily Struggles of a Plant, Part 2”.
