Looking to once again tackle the ongoing issue of traffic congestion in Banff, Town Council had the chance to take a look at a new draft Comprehensive Parking Management Plan which proposes a new resident parking permit system to go along with seasonal, peak period user-pay parking.

I spoke with Mayor Karen Sorensen about this big subject as well as the new Banff Elementary School Travel Plan, their efforts to replace outgoing CAO Robert Earl, and her participation in a panel discussion with the Prime Minister at the Federation of Canadian Municipalities conference in Quebec City.

Mayor Sorensen says there will definitely be a public consultation period for the proposed parking plan, hopefully in the fall.  To view both that plan and the BES School Travel Plan, click this link.
