Has there ever been a year that warranted celebrating the end of MORE than 2020? Therein lies the irony. Ontario’s Associate Chief Medical Officer is urging us to only celebrate with our household. But that doesn’t have to damper the celebrations…..here are a few suggestions for safe & fun ways to celebrate the arrival of 2021!

Create Your Own Signature Cocktail/Mocktail

You can even get the kids involved to help create a non-alcoholic version. Theme it to the pandemic, 2020, your family name……get some extra ingredients and turn it into a competition to see who can come up with the most creative concoction!

Go All Out!

Just because you are cooped up at home, doesn’t mean you can’t celebrate! Pick up some decorations, and squeeze into those formal clothes you haven’t had the chance to wear in 9 months. Put on some music and bust out the shrimp ring.

Plan a Virtual Get Together

Sure, meeting up with friends and family on Zoom isn’t quite the same as seeing them in person, but it could be a good excuse, even for 30 minutes, to plan a mini-reunion with your family or friend group and catch up with a toast.

Make a Time Capsule

2020 isn’t a year we’ll soon forget, but why not try to make something you can look forward to opening in a year, 5 years or more? Have everyone in your household write a little something about this year. Include any neat items or trinkets that will be fun to look back on when you open it.

Appetizer Cook-Off

A fun competition that any age family member can get involved in. Have everyone whip up their easiest or most creative appetizer and then cast your vote for the best one.

Binge Marathon

Have you ever watched an entire season of a show in one sitting? What better time to try?

Support Local!

We don’t need to remind you, we’re in the midst of another lockdown. Why not take the opportunity to support a local restaurant by ordering take-out or delivery? Just make sure to plan ahead and order early……it’s going to be a busy night!
