The Hollywood Foreign Press Association has come under criticism since it was revealed the organization lacks diversity including, presently, no Black members among it’s 90 members.  HFPA implemented new policies, but they fall short of expectations. Last week Netflix co-chief executive Ted Sarandos wrote in a letter to the group “We don’t believe these proposed new policies — particularly around the size and speed of membership growth — will tackle the HFPA’s systemic diversity and inclusion challenges, or the lack of clear standards for how your members should operate.”  Monday to show his commitment to change within HFPA, Tom Cruise gave back his 3 Golden Globes.  The 2021 Golden Globe Awards on NBC were hosted by Amy Poehler and Tina Fey who did not shy away from mentioning the lack of diversity within the HFPA.
